Celebrating my Studio Anniversary! I can’t believe it’s already been a year since I opened my studio to start creating for all brand photo shoots. It’s so bittersweet seeing how many business owners I’ve been able to capture in a space that I transformed to feel like something of my own. At first, I had some doubts about the space since it had low ceilings, a green awning out front, and an awkward shape with limited natural light. However, a photographer friend visited and assured me that she had transformed a similar space into something magical. Hearing that inspired me to turn this place into something special for my clients.
FINDING THE STUDIO
So, how did I end up with the space? It was during the COVID-19 pandemic that I had to juggle working from home and homeschooling my kids. A friend who owns a healing/crystal shop had a space that they used for healing rooms and small meetings. When the pandemic shut everything down they couldn’t use it. I quickly figured out that I couldn’t work from home with the kids around. So, I sublet the space from my friend, and it was a perfect solution for both of us at the time.
After a year, my friend decided not to continue with the space, and I had to decide whether to move back home or take over the lease and create a studio. After much thought, I decided to take the leap and create my own studio. which I absolutely love and it was the best decision. It’s located in a charming small town 20 miles from San Francisco.I’m able to walk to work, which is a huge bonus! I received help from friends with painting, furniture assembly, and even furniture selection with the help of Instagram. My husband put together a movable wall which provides so much variety for branding photo shoots in the studio.
DESIGNING FOR BRAND PHOTO SHOOTS
I’ve had the pleasure of photographing so many wonderful business owners at this fantastic spot for their brand photo shoots, which I absolutely adore! It’s like my own little getaway from home. I’m super excited to help bring the visions of other business owners alive in my studio for their brand! I wanted to create a space that would provide my clients with a combination of lifestyle and studio feel for their brand photography. It was important to me that the space was neutral, airy and clean enough for my clients to make it their own with their personal style.
I wanted to add elements in the studio that helped represent their work. A desk was a must-have for their brand photos so that they could show off their work. Additionally, I added some furniture to cater to lifestyle brand photos. Photos with chairs and couches add a key element to a photo shoot. Lastly, I included a white wall that would be perfect for capturing personality shots.
