I am sharing with you my photoshoot tips on how to prepare for your session. The very first thing you’ll want to do is find a photographer whose work you love! When inquiring with a photographer, they will ask you to fill out a form with more details. The next step is sharing the vision you have for your brand shoot; this is what you have to spend more time on. From choosing what kind of location fits your brand the most to thinking what time frame you’re wanting to stay in, If you’re sitting there thinking, “I have no idea where,” peer space has a lot of great options. Also, once you share your vision with your photographer, they’ll be able to help guide you.

Photoshoot Tips For You

When planning your shoot, make sure to solidify your location or, if multiple, double-check where you’re starting with enough time prior. Which leads us into figuring out your timeline with your photographer. At least two weeks before your shoot, make sure to book your hair and makeup artist. This, of course, only applies if you’re considering hiring someone to do this for you. I highly recommend you book a professional for your photos. Doing your own hair and makeup can add stress to the day, and you definitely want to avoid this.

Tips: A Week Before Photoshoot

A week prior, begin to gather your outfits or any accessories you’ll be using. If you leave this task to the very last minute, you’re going to be rushing. If you’re indecisive about your wardrobe, try on all your clothes with a full-length mirror. It can also be helpful to sit down and look in the mirror to make sure that everything looks good in multiple positions. During a Brand Shoot, your photographer might have you sitting in a few photos. Also, make sure that the wardrobe style works for your brand and, as well as the colors you’re choosing. Focus on variety; don’t bring multiples of similar clothing items.

You want to get the most out of your branding photos!

A Day Before Your Photoshoot

Now we’re a day before your shoot; make sure your nails and hands are photo-ready. Double-check that there are no major creases on your clothes the night before. Hanging them helps prevent any extra wrinkles from forming. So, bring your clothes to the shoot on hangers the day of so that they don’t wrinkle in between locations. Then, focus on what props you’re bringing and pack them up. The sooner you start this, the less likely it is that you’ll forget something. I always recommend packing a hairbrush for touch-ups, especially if you don’t have hair and makeup on set for the shoot.

Don’t forget to hydrate and get plenty of rest before your session. Allowing yourself time in the morning for a nutritious breakfast will keep you energized!

Make sure to bring snacks that can’t stain your clothes and clear liquids, AKA water!

Photoshoot Tips From A Branding Photographer

Extra tips I’d like to add in would be to not overbook yourself before or after your session. Especially before, you don’t want to be tired; it’ll be shown in your photos, and you definitely don’t want that. The only exception would be to grab a nice dinner afterward; you’ll be dolled up. Enjoy!

At the end of the day, your focus should be on your photoshoot, so don’t try to squeeze extra things into your schedule.

Remember to have fun; your high vibes will show through your photos. Let’s go and have fun! Don’t be critical of yourself; be YOU!
